FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. and CHENNAI, India, (January 29,
2004) -- Covansys Corporation (Nasdaq: CVNS), a global
consulting and technology services provider, today announced that
it has signed an agreement with SAS Institute India Private Ltd.
to license its software at its Analytic Center of Excellence in
Chennai. This center will be dedicated to providing healthcare and
financial services solutions. SAS is a wholly owned subsidiary of
SAS Institute Inc., the world leader in business intelligence software
and services.
Under the terms of the one year renewable agreement, Covansys will
be able to offer its offshore clients SAS expertise beginning January
2004. SAS products supported will include BASE SAS, STAT, ASSIST,
GRAPH, ETS and ACCESS. Covansys will also have access to SAS technology
and training programs to ensure its ability to provide the best
quality services and support.

Covansys will specialize in using SAS software to develop solutions
that address the critical needs of clients primarily in the healthcare
and financial services verticals.
SAS solutions for the pharmaceutical industry can be used by Covansys
to help companies bring drugs to market faster, and at a greater
profit, by providing them with effective tools to manage large volumes
of research and development data.
Similar productivity gains can be reaped by applying SAS technology
in the financial services markets by facilitating their ability
to comply with new and evolving risk management requirements such
as Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II and the Patriot Act.
The software license agreement with SAS is another example of Covansys’
