OHIO’S CHILD SUPPORT SYSTEM RECEIVES CERTIFICATION

System Implemented by Covansys Meets Federal Certification Guidelines

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (May 10, 2004) – Covansys Corporation (Nasdaq: CVNS), a global consulting and technology services company, and the Ohio Job and Family Services Office of Child Support announced today that the statewide child support information system known as the Support Enforcement Tracking System (SETS), received full compliance with the 1988 Family Support Act and the 1996 Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA).

SETS is an online system used to facilitate the tracking, collection, and disbursement of child support payments. Ohio now has one of the highest volumes of child support collections in the United States, and processes over $2 billion in payments a year.

“Covansys is proud to have helped the state of Ohio implement a system that improves child support,” said Arvind Malhotra, Sr. Vice President, Covansys Public Sector Practice. “The system that we helped the state implement achieved certification because it meets parents' needs by ensuring that they receive appropriate support in a timely manner.”

Receiving federal certification is a significant accomplishment for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), which oversees the child support program. Efforts to develop and deploy a certified statewide child support system have been ongoing in Ohio since 1992. This certification ensures that millions of dollars of federal funding for the Ohio Child Support Program will continue.

Covansys was engaged by ODJFS in 1993 to assist with the design and implementation of SETS. In 2002, Covansys was awarded the sole prime contractor for SETS and successfully partnered with ODJFS to produce a federally certifiable system. The SETS certification is the result of years of hard work and dedication. Covansys helped the state of Ohio develop a release management model which successfully implemented over forty software releases, and assisted the Office of Management Information Services with business process development, project management, design, development, system testing, system operations, and county implementation.
