| COVANSYS LAUNCHES CLARETY
FOR IBM iSERIES PLATFORM
Latest Release of Leading Pension Administration
Product Targeted at Mid-Market Clientele
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.—(WEB RELEASE)—May 7, 2004 -
Covansys Corporation (Nasdaq: CVNS), a global consulting and technology
services company, today announced the availability of Clarety,
their leading pension administration product, for IBM’s eServer
iSeries platform.
Based on retirement industry best practices, Clarety is a state-of-the-art
pension administration product designed to help retirement systems
provide more timely and efficient member services by streamlining
and automating business processes. In addition to increasing operational
efficiency for business users, Clarety’s secure, self-service
features enable retirement systems to communicate directly with
employers, active members and retirees.
The latest release of Covansys’ Clarety product was specifically
designed for the IBM eServer® i5 line of servers. Launched
to meet the requirements of small to midsized businesses and departments
of large enterprises, the new eServer i5 server was designed to
reduce complexity, simplify infrastructure and enhance productivity.
The eServer i5 features support for multiple operating systems
and application environments on a single, simplified platform,
making it the perfect platform to host mission-critical business
applications.
“Response to our WebSphere version of Clarety has been tremendous.
We’re excited to now be able to offer this robust and highly
functional pension administration product to enterprises with an
investment in the iSeries platform,” said Arvind Malhotra,
senior vice president, Covansys Public Sector. “The openness
of Java and flexibility of the WebSphere environment, which allow
for the long-term portability and scalability of our product, are
helping Clarety quickly become one of the pension administration
market’s preferred systems.”
Covansys, which has one of the largest and most well-developed
practices in the U.S. public retirement system market, first introduced
Clarety in 1996 as a mainframe product. Since then, customer demand
has prompted the company to release both client-server and browser-based
Websphere versions. In fact, in 2003, Clarety became the first
pension administration to receive IBM’s “Powered by
Websphere” certification. Covansys has a dozen Clarety clients.
For the past 19 years, Covansys has provided public sector solutions
to more than 47 states plus the Virgin Islands, District of Columbia
and Guam in the areas of health and human services, public retirement,
public health, motor vehicle services and unemployment insurance
systems. In the public retirement sector, Covansys has emerged
as a technology leader, providing retirement solutions and services
for 22 different public retirement funds. Covansys derives more
than 25 percent of its current annual revenues from state and local
government clients.
