SYSTEM AWARDS COVANSYS ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT IMAGING CONTRACT
Solution Designed to Increase Customer Service by
Automating Core Document Processes
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 2004--Covansys
(Nasdaq: CVNS - News), a global consulting and technology services
company, today announced that the Arizona State Retirement System
(ASRS) has awarded them a contract to implement an Electronic
Document Management System (EDMS), designed to improve customer
service for the agency's 61,681 annuitants, 326,087 active members
and 715 participating employers.
Scheduled to be fully implemented later this summer, the EDMS is
valued at nearly $1 million dollars, and will be developed utilizing
software from FileNET, a leading provider of Enterprise Content
Management based in Costa Mesa, California.
"ASRS, like most retirement systems, was facing a significant
increase in the demand for their services due to the retirement
of the baby boomer generation, who are extremely familiar with
the Internet. The EDMS was the perfect solution," said Bryce
Haws, senior vice president, Covansys Public Sector Practice. "Automation
will allow ASRS to reduce its reliance on paper processes, while
reaping significant gains in efficiency. Ultimately, this will
free ASRS staff to focus their efforts where it really counts--improving
customer service for their increasing membership."
In addition to improving customer service, the EDMS will allow
ASRS to handle a larger workload by providing the following benefits:
- Increased departmental productivity
- Improved work processes
- Reduced administrative costs
- Quicker access to customer documents and information
- Reduced work backlogs
"
Covansys understood our challenges and our objectives, and developed
a best practices solution to meet the specific needs of our organization,
said Patrick O'Keefe, Network Information System Manager, ASRS. "The
EDMS is a competitive, cost effective solution that will allow
us to increase departmental productivity, while improving the
level of service we provide to our membership." The system will provide ASRS with a foundation that is flexible
enough to meet their growing member's needs, while integrating
with ASRS' current technology infrastructure, including Oracle
Forms and Avaya Enterprise Manager.
"This implementation will bolster Covansys' leadership position
in providing document imaging solutions that solve business process
issues for our public retirement clients. We look forward to another
successful implementation," added Haws.
For the past 19 years, Covansys has provided public sector solutions
