procedures each year and manage over 2.5 million patient contacts. Nearly
65,000 patients are admitted to Henry Ford hospitals each year.
Henry Ford Health Systems mission is to improve human life through

As such, the IT organization of Henry
Ford was seeking a strategic partner that would manage the IT needs of
the enterprise in a cost-effective yet highly service-level-driven environment.
The Covansys Solution
Covansys and Henry Ford formed a strategic relationship that has resulted
in a five-year agreement for Covansys to assume responsibility for the
entire IT function of Henry Ford. This partnership also includes transition
of personnel and operations to Covansys. Henry Fords CIO is now
on staff at Covansys to continue to provide strategic guidance to the
partnership.
The purpose of the strategic partnership
is to focus on achieving the following:
- Reduced operating cost
- Consistency of service through integrated
systems
- Improved patient safety and care
- Increased physician productivity
In addition, it is important to Henry
Ford that their Return on Assets be optimized, with savings achieved being
used to fund new development that will drive strategic Henry Ford initiatives.
